2025 Chevy Tahoe & Suburban Release Date & What’s New

Published on Mar 8, 2024 by Classic ELITE Chevrolet Creative Team

While it might be hard to believe, we’re already in the third month of the 2024 calendar year. That means the 2025 model year is on the horizon and more nameplates will be getting introduced across the industry as time goes by. The first 2025 models that Chevrolet gave us a look at happened back in November, and they were the brand’s full-size SUVs the Tahoe and Suburban. These absolute icons have been stalwart members of the lineup for years and have undergone similar changes as they get refreshed for the new year. We thought we’d dive into what’s new for the two juggernauts and touch on what we know about their release date.

“The updates on the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban make the industry’s best-selling full-size SUVs an ever-stronger option for our customers. Our segment-leading position is the envy of our competitors – no one comes close to Chevrolet.”

- Scott Bell, Vice President, Chevrolet

When will they become available?

While a specific month has yet to be announced in regards to a release date for either the 2025 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban, both models are expected to go on sale late in 2024. More information than you’ll read here today will be made available around the time the models go into production, so you can definitely expect updates within the next few months.

Improved Performance

The design of each vehicle was not the only thing that has been refreshed for the 2025 model year, though, as the 3.0L inline-six turbo-diesel Duramax powertrain has been refined and reintroduced for its second generation. Tethered to a 10-speed automatic transmission it’s available across the lineup, which includes the Z71 trim on which it has never before been offered. This powertrain is capable of generating up to 305 horsepower alongside 495 pound-feet of torque. In addition to this option, a 5.3L V8 and 6.2L V8 remain available on certain trims.

In addition to the updated engine, other performance refinements have been introduced as well, including where the multilink independent rear suspension system is concerned. Its ride-and-handling dynamics have been improved thanks in large part to steering calibration enhancements. Finally, both Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Magnetic Ride Control are once again available features that will further enhance the performance of either the Tahoe or Suburban.
